The Environment and Development Programm related work within Kalpavriksh focuses on action research on environment regulatory regimes that impact people’s livelihoods and environment. These include the mandatory processes related to environment, coastal regulation, and, forest clearances for industrial and infrastructure projects in India. The team carries out its work through site specific investigations, local level campaign support, national level policy research and strategic networking. Members of the E&D team regularly write in the mainstream media and academic publications to highlight relevant issues of local, regional, national and international importance. The use of Right to Information Act, 2005 is central to the research and advocacy efforts of the E & D team.
