The ‘Beyond Development’ Working Group was set up with Rosa Luxemburg Stichtung support, in 2016. Comprising of individuals from various parts of the world and various backgrounds, its aim is to enable a dialogue and the production of material on critical issues relating to mainstream development
and governance, and systemic alternatives to these. It has an annual meeting which focuses on particular themes, around which case studies have been generated; these are discussed, then revised and put out in the form of a book and other outputs.
The first of these is available at:

Members of the group also join in to help with local situations that they have been involved with, e.g. writing to the Ecuador government in support of the community of Nabon struggling against mining leases on their land. From Kalpavriksh, Ashish Kothari and Neema Pathak Broome are members.
