Kalpavriksh, being the South Asia regional coordinator of the ICCA Consortium, engages in networking with organizations and individuals involved with CCAs. It is our responsibility to ensure that CCA groups are in touch with each other across regions and, to share learnings among CCAs. Towards this end, Kalpavriksh has supported local networks of CCAs in several parts of India. Some of the activities carried out towards strengthening CCA networks at different scales are South Asia Regional Assembly of ICCA Consortium; General Assembly of ICCA Consortium; North-East India CCA network; Global Initiative on Pastoralist Territories of Life.
Decentralisation of decision-making at all levels is crucial in supporting CCAs. However, cross fertilization of ideas and information are crucial for decision-making. One important way of making information available at all levels and, to understand implications of legal prescriptions, is through constant discussions and dialogues. To that end, Kalpavriksh has been facilitating visits between local communities from different geographies to meet and learn from each other.
alpavriksh believes in long term relationship with communities and civil society groups that we engage with. They are our sources of inspiration, who have not only helped us deepen our understanding about participatory and community conservation and, its links with local livelihoods, but also helped us refine our own institutional functioning and decision-making processes. We value our relationships with these communities and, groups associated with them. Kalpavriksh is obligated to provide any need-based assistance (hyperlink to report on Fellowships) to them, as and when sought, either directly or through other agencies, depending on the context. Such help includes effective ways of dealing with human wildlife conflicts, helping in documentation, facilitating dialogues among local actors, suggestions (hyperlink to reports on Advisory support) on appropriate sources of funding, appropriate schemes for achieving livelihoods, implementation of appropriate laws, carrying out investigations on request from local communities, facilitating exchange visits to other sites, developing links with others, facilitating members from these communities to participate in national/international policy dialogues and so on.
